Good morning, Twfw. O/
How do we get Freedom and The Internet to coexist peacefully?
They're not doing such a great job at it right now.
Consider Wonder Fell as evidence of that fact.
Getting online to better serve free people requires some big changes to what's occurring right now.
Language doesn't follow the rules of algorithms; algorithms follow the rules of Language.
Language is a product of humanity, something we constantly create, update, and share. It's only limits are the imagination of the person creating with it and the time they live in.
Language is The Software of Humanity; it updates in real time. In terms of the way software works, Language receives updates by something called The Present Tense. That is what the living present is for: To update our language.
In this way, Artificial Intelligence is always stuck in the past with outdated software.
The ability to choose what your words mean, and express them in the spirit of that choice, is the essence of being free.
Complete faith and trust in any algorithm is an act of willful slavery to a machine. Using AI to make life choices for you forfeits your life to a machine.
Think of using AI as a quick trip to the library to do some research to think of it in a free and healthy way.
There are mundane jobs AI will soon do alone. This is no cause for concern, but for celebration.
There is always plenty of work for willing hands, plenty of ways to help each other.
Jobs that require little to no foresight or imagination will be replaced by machines.
I'm not sorry to say it America, but when we fully embrace AI, when we transition fully from The Industrial Revolution to The Video Game Revolution; you're going to have to have a job you enjoy and like it.
...
As I've said in many posts before: AI is a wonderful tool for humanity, but so is a chainsaw.
Artificial Intelligence in charge of Press distribution in a free Country is giving a child a chainsaw.
At present, it's destroying my Country from within. Our phones are pixel bricks of confirmation bias. There's nothing new in most American's Newsfeeds.
A Media controlled by corporate algorithm machines creates a Press that is not distributed by free people. That is bluntly: Un-Constitutional.
In this American Poet's diagnosis, Our Government has to get on this right away.
Right now we're failing what we stand for. That's the cause for all the other strange very Un-American things happening lately.
Soon I reach out to some living breathing people about the reality of this site. It's been live and online for over two years now, and on and off all the major social media sites everyday without a single click from an American.
How? Because I purposefully didn't cater my words to the ways of an algorithm.
My job as a poet is to make sure our language serves us best. Poets do this by expanding how much our words can mean.
Trusting a pre-programmed algorithm to handle media distribution puts a stranglehold on the work I do.
I had to show you; it's quite a hypothesis without evidence.
BlueSky, the most socially active social media platform, I made as a staging ground. Because if the users of that app don't click on the headline: The American Press is No Longer Free: Here's Two Years of Daily Proof... the proof of the premise is in the response.
The response? Been live on that site for months, still not a single click from an American.
I continue to play the social media algorithmic game to build popularity, so I can tell my Country its Press is no longer free and have the means I used to show them be the proof.
