AI, Where's the Good News?

For the past couple years I purposefully avoided algorithmic classification to make a point to help us all.

Everyday of those years I shared words of hope, encouragement and moral common sense in a lyrical way. New ways of thinking about current events, ways to help, and words of intelligent concern every morning for years are here.

I shared them with regularity on every major social media platform.

With no direct response from any fellow American.

About a week ago I began training the algorithms.

Yesterday I received my first contact from another American who could, at last, read my work.

Freedom of speech and assembly are being treated like a high school popularity contest.

I'm not okay with that.

I don't believe most Americans are either. I decided to show us all how bad it actually is.

Great new voices that people need to hear are being systematically quieted.

Here's two years worth of daily proof.

When we treat language like a video game it's game over for the progress of the human race.

AI is a responsive encyclopedia of a limited set of human thought.

Artificial Intelligence is a modern day updated version of an encyclopedia.

A society that bases all its decisions only on past logic can never progress.

More of the same is their sentence.

And so the state of the algorithmically dependent Modern American News Media.

There's no place for progress in an algorithm. A living person is the only vehicle for something new.

Humility and vanity aside for the sake of practicality, the writing on Wonder Fell is worth at least a like, or a heart, or a thumbs up.

With over two years of daily posts, with campaigns on every major social media site from X to Instagram, Threads to Substack, and Facebook; yesterday on BlueSky I received my first active response from an American.

It comes down to protocols. A person sharing speech (text is now a main source of speech) that has to meet certain requirements in order to be received by a human... doesn't sound like freedom to me.

How many swipes left or right, views, shares, does it contain current trend words, what are the demographics of the poster, who do they follow...?

None of those points have anything to do with the substance of the writing, but everything to do with whether or not anyone can find it to read it.

Having to meet certain social requirements in order to have your voice heard is the antithesis of The American Way.

And exactly how algorithms work.

Instead of telling you, I decided to show you.

At the time of posting this algorithms feast on spectacle...

Over two years worth of pertinent information to The American Public overlooked in the most popular online spaces because it didn't follow orders from a machine.

Spectacle enough?

No hard feelings here; I did it on purpose. But not everyone has a poet's understanding of language.

Fixing a leaky faucet is easy for a master plumber; training an algorithm is basic poetry.

AI as a gatekeeper of information is an anti-evolutionary act. It makes progress impossible.

Only people can judge what's best for people. Machines can't serve or evaluate anything new if they don't know what new looks like.

Only a person can honestly judge if something new is helpful for humanity.

There's no future to AI; it's stuck in the past. What worked isn't always what works.

The intent is not to rain on AI's parade, only to showcase the ethical concerns.

Saying a person is responsible for their poor eating choices when the only food readily available is junk, is not the whole truth.

The Media America feasts on everyday is only partly the viewer's fault. If we don't know there's something better to watch or read, how can we choose it?

AI, where's the Good News?

At the time of writing this, good news for AI means spectacle and tragedy.

The current systems for sharing information are just simply not humanely sustainable.

The nightmare media maelstrom is on repeat because it's what machines interpret we want to see.

Get human gatekeepers back corporations! For the sake of all of us.

And America, there is good news out there. People help people everyday. Until this algorithmic whirlwind gets settled, please take a moment and choose consciously before you watch or read something.

Remember if it's on your screen some algorithm computed that you want to see it, or someone paid an algorithm's manufacturer a lot so you do see it.

Please decide for yourself what to watch the way a freeperson would.
