The Same Winged Thing
2025.01.05
2025.01.05
Good morning, that wonderful way.
How's your day?
Got that thing out of the way, yet?
Feels good I bet.
Get yourself together.
There's life to live.
Yours.
On with the show...
...
Let's go.
Dog on the loveseat, Sun's taking his time, same ol' silence in the house, in the air outside, up to the dark domed sky.
Time to fly butterfly.
A butterfly is a strong metaphor loud dazzling colors, pasted in myths, on T-shirts, on posters, flapping wings in T.V. commercials, chiming wind chimes, singing its song of metamorphosis to every witch, weirdo, and wonderstruck one of us brave enough to dream of a better life somewhere, somehow, in the sky.
Crack that cocoon.
Time for takeoff.
Time to take on your new life for Heaven's sake and your own.
Finally, you old worm, they're the same winged thing.
Take care, flutterby butterfly, and have your better day.

Tell It Well

Good morning, that wonderful way.
Hello. O/
Welcome back.
How's the air?
Not a care?
Hyper-focused to win?
Either way, let's begin.
...
Do you keep a schedule?
A hard-set hour to hour minute to minute monstrosity of a task master?
Helpful time blocked hours?
An easy wake, work, sleep eat a few times go with the flow?
You ought to have some idea where you're going when you wake up.
Why else get in the car?
Some schedules are easy GPS entries: "Fastest way and faster than that."
Some avoid traffic.
Some wake up early and take the backroads. The scenery and stress relief gained is of more value than a shorter time in the car.
I take backroads; I breathe easy. There's more to life than going faster.
Speed is only for adrenaline and adrenaline addiction will kill the quality of your life faster than any other vice.
A life of More, More, More, always leads to a busy empty life full of fast, quick empty experiences full of nothing but increased heartrates set on doing more, faster, quicker, brighter, louder.
Looking Death in the face and laughing results in a laid-back yawn from Death... you're nothing new to him. He'll see you regardless how fast you run.
If you want to impress Death, take your time. Fill it with moments that matter, memories full of feelings.
There's the thrill of scaling a massive mountain, and there's the heartfelt moments of preparation to do so, the relationships made along the way.
Your everyday life isn't so every day when you focus on building your relationships in each day.
Everything in your day is part of the story of your life: tell it well.
There's more to playing a song then playing the next one.
There's more to jumping out of an airplane then jumping out of the next one.
There's more to each day than getting through the day to experience some fun.
Happiness comes from strong relationships with all things.
Not just people; places and things, too.
Choose your relationships well, define them to serve your story and your better self, and have your better day.

The Dream's Picture
2025.01.03
2025.01.03
Good morning, that wonderful way.
Sleep much?
Yes, or no, away we go.
Feels like a Transition Day this morning.
That something so intangible we call it only something and wait for the time necessary for a better word.
Stubborn. The words want daydreams before lines. Usually a sign something new, something excellent, some interesting insight is on the way. A new route on an old highway that makes the trip more comfortable and convenient.
Maybe, if you're lucky, gives a better view, too.
It takes years at writing before you can call walking away from a piece working and not procrastination.
How we are while we write goes into the words, into the tone, sets the rhythm.
Some dreams aren't finished with their daydreams enough to get real.
Try to push through their resistance and all you write is the struggle with the picture you're painting and so, don't show the dream's picture itself.
Write something else.
Check-in time to time to see if the other dream is ready for pixels or canvas or musical notes.
If so... away, you go.
You'll know because there's a new level of comfort there.
It's a time-out not a walking away.
Everything takes time to grow.
No worries, there's always plenty more to write about.
Take care, listen to your dreams, and have your better day.

Windy Drying Dry
2025.01.02
2025.01.02
Good morning, that wonderful way.
How you doing?
All clear for a good day.
Sunshine comes so late in Winter, the avarice of cold takes hold of the sky.
Spring, Summer, and Fall's temperance gives way to Winter's best chill outside best get inside and chillout.
Did you know it has to warm up to snow?
It's the humidity.
Steam makes it seem warmer than it is.
Had some friends here years ago who lived in a Middle Eastern desert ask me:
"How do you stand this Summer heat? It's so hot."
"Don't you live in a desert?"
"Yeah, but it's dry."
Like my wit. 🧂
Windy drying dry today. A good talk on the weather morning.
We lean on commonalities when there's too little, or too much, to say.
The later for me this morning.
Time has a way of lasting that has little to do with the tick tocks of clocks.
Been a very long few years for me.
So much happened in such a short, lonely amount of time.
How to relay it? How to get anyone to care?
Why would they? Should they?
No despair, grief over these stories from memories and dreams.
They don't need spectacle; the words are enough.
Take care, find a quiet place to process, and have your better day.

I Kissed Abe’s Forehead
2025.01.01
2025.01.01
Good morning, that wonderful way.
Happy New Year.
Hope it's a good one.
Resolutions?
They're a commitment to a dream we have of ourselves.
Not a solution.
You're not a problem, not broken. You're you regardless what you do.
Resolve to do the best you can with what you have to work with each day and do the day.
Define your best and use your day to serve that dream.
A New Year's resolution isn't a fix, isn't a problem solved. It's a step towards yourself.
You're not broken; you're you.
Perhaps you might not like some aspect of your life, some behavior, but it's your choice that makes that behavior possible.
Resolve to change your choices to better serve your better dream of yourself.
That's a resolution worth making.
How was your night? Stay up to watch the clock? A big drunken madhouse? A close group of loved ones? One or two loved ones?
I kissed Abe's forehead and there were fireworks!
Not in a weird metaphorical way. Actual fireworks in the city sky.
I resolve to keep showing up. I look forward to making the entries every morning.
A big year for me. You get to meet Hope and Langston.
All things in good time, though, like midnight calendar turns to another year.
To another year. 🥂
Take care, enjoy the new start, and have your better year.
