Regardless of AI's Success

A warm night, a warmer day. Summer shows early and changes warm to hot.

Identity, it's a main theme of this site and a major, and perhaps the most important, topic of discussion for humanity as AI settles in to our day-to-day lives.

We're the stories we consistently tell and affirm to ourselves we are.

There's what we do and what happens to us, but who we are is in the stories we choose to define the experiences.

AI is a video game built from history books and encyclopedias; it's not Life.

In terms of language, a Large Language Model is always written with The Past Tense.

We can, and should, learn from the past. But to trust AI to run your life or business assures you're doomed to be limited by what the past can do.

A blind trust in Artificial Intelligence halts evolution... if we want to get all Science-y about it.

So, who are you? You're what's new.

You are The Present Tense. You stand for growth and development, a thing called: A Brighter Tomorrow.

How we shape and fashion language also shares what we are.

That's a main point to leaving this journal online: I've worked at writing for three decades, worked to get my unique (because we're all unique) perspective into lines of poetry and prose.

I leave this journal here for free not to show the world how wonderful these lines are, but to show that regardless of AI's success the written word is about a whole lot more than information. It's about what makes information possible and worthwhile at all.

So every sunrise this poet shows up to say O/ in a new way to remind us all of the truly wonderful power of language.
