Like a flashlight spotlight through a bedsheet roof of clouds dawn arrives. Every silhouette of oak and maple slowly fills with color to showcase the start of Autumn.

I think of all the great literature and art and how easy it could be to share since the invention and popularity of The Internet. How many lives could be simply touched and changed for the better now text is so easy to share?

Most.

But how are we using this great technological gift? To classify and arrange versus to inspire and uplift.

As human beings we are indebted to the power of language. Words are not facts; words make facts possible.

One of our duties as living people is to update the definitions of our words. Language is the software of humanity. Artists and creative people are its developers.

Every dictionary definition is a starting place and not an endpoint for the living.

The word freedom, for instance, means more today than it did a couple hundred years ago.

That's an easy example of what happens all the time with words.

Language lives and grows with humanity. It is the record of our evolution.

We can treat words as information, but we must remember the world was once scientifically flat and freedom was based on the color of a person's skin and gender.

That is the hazard of AI; our living software never develops.

The definitions and prompt returns artificial intelligence shows us must always be used as a starting place and not an endpoint. Complete trust in AI and algorithms is an anti-evolutionary act.

This is why current media cycles are stuck in an algorithmic holding pattern. The News is literally no longer new.

Caring and concerned citizens have to go back as gatekeepers for press distribution in order for it to remain free.

There's no antagonism here for the tech-industry. The new software is a potential incredible help to humanity. But so is a chainsaw.

Corporate media using demographic algorithms only to disperse their words removes human concern from the metrics and so inhibits cultural growth.

Take the last decade of American News for proof of the dangers of removing human concern from media metrics.

We get more of the same. That's how algorithms have media (press) set-up right now.

People, free people, start to double-down on their stances because for years they've been fed the same information.

Their neighbors are fed different 'same information' and begin to not understand one another's points of reference.

The fault is not with a political party; it's with an algorithm.

I don't believe malice is the cause, just limited foresight.

And so I write.
