More Than Touching Screens
There's a handshake, a hug, and (for alliteration's sake) a hump, all for possibilities more than the flick, tap, and swipe of a screen.

Good morning, Twfw. O/
Rain brings its own kind of peace. Songbirds stay in their nests and read a book. Morning music as precipitation falls is percussive, steady; the hi-hat hits are damp crow's caws.
Peace of mind is a sacred thing, unfortunately rare these days. Perhaps it's our adjustment to a new way of life, this online living, that has so many with Xanax on their bedside table where milk and cookies used to go.
Of course, being a poet, I'm thrilled to see humanity shift from dependency on the spoken word to that of text. But there is an adjustment period.
There's more to human touch than touching screens.
There's a handshake, a hug, and (for alliteration's sake) a hump, all for possibilities more than the flick, tap, and swipe of a screen.
How best to incorporate this textual era we find ourselves in into a world where touch exists?
It comes down to a classification of relationships. So much business is more easily done online, but friendships and all personal partnerships are best done with a closeness of space.
As well-designed as they may be, an emoji hug 🤗 will never take the place of the real thing.
We can be more selective now about the kinds of people we let into our personal space and still have the whole online world at our disposal.
The rain slowed; the songbirds took the stage. The offline world with its choirs of birdsongs, percussive rains, and inspiring sunrises holds something a screen can never share: Life itself.
Take a deep breath, feel filled with Life, and enjoy today however it touches you.
